Summer Work for AP Chemistry

The student needs to have memorized the fifty common elements and their symbols before the start of school. Click here for the table.

The student needs to rapidly memorize, or memorize again, the polyatomic ions from Chemistry I.  Click here for the table. There is help in the Topic 2 notes with tricks for remembering them. Note that this is NOT the full set of polyatomic ions provided for reference.

Topic 1 covers the basics of chemistry, the scientific method, three basic laws of chemistry, states of matter, physical and chemical properties and changes, mixtures, a review of the SI system, uncertainty and significant digits, and conversions.
